Messi has always been linked with a new contract with Barca, but on Thursday, Azulgrana informed the players that the deal was blocked by La Liga, preventing them from signing. 

Yet the deal was not tense as both sides agreed to try to sign a new contract. The report states that Messi is satisfied with the attitude of the club’s president Joan Laporta, who has always shown his sincerity.

After Romano’s report came out, questions were raised. Whether Messi could wait for Barca to settle the club’s internal finances to pave the way for a new contract. In the past, the team tried to release the excess, but was unsuccessful. And this may be more clear in Laporta’s press conference on Friday.
